DES scientists take shifts at Cerro Tololo during hte observing season to help run the camera and survey. It takes around 24 hours to get CTIO for most observers in DES. We observe for DES Aug-Feb each year.

We stay in the dormitories, sleeping during the day, and using the telescope and camera at night.
Each night there are 2-3 DES members working at the telescope console to monitor operations. There is one run manager who oversees the activities of the night. Observer 1 monitors the camera operations and Observer 2 monitors the data and fills out the nightly reports.
